
Born in Nigeria, but living in England since the age of 4, Sade formed the band ‘Sade’ in 1983 and went on to release the album ‘Diamond Life’ – one of the best-selling albums of the 1980’s featuring the hits “Your Love Is King” and “Smooth Operator”. The album sold over 1.2 million copies in the UK and won Brit Award for Best British Album in 1985.
Sade has been credited as one of the most successful British female artists in history, and her services to music were recognised with an award of the OBE in 2002 and a CBE in 2017.
